Flying High with the West Coast Eagles

West Coast Eagles - Round 11 Team

A flurry of changes for the West Coast Eagles after the flogging we copped at the hands of Collingwood.

West Coast Eagles
B: Beau Wilkes, Darren Glass, Brett Jones
HB: Tyson Stenglein, Adam Hunter, Andrew Embley
C: Michael Braun, Daniel Kerr, Adam Selwood
HF: Sam Butler, Brent Staker, Chad Fletcher
F: David Wirrpanda, Quinten Lynch, Jaymie Graham
Foll: Dean Cox, Matt Priddis, Chris Masten
I/C: Ryan Davis, Tim Houlihan, Mark Nicoski, Mark Seaby
EMG: Steven Armstrong, Ben McKinley, Mark LeCras

In: Hunter, Butler, Graham, Masten, Seaby, Davis, Nicoski
Out: Brad Ebert (ankle), Will Schofield (thigh), Josh Kennedy (knee), Matt Rosa (ankle), Beau Waters (susp), Steven Armstrong, Ben McKinley

Ok here goes -

  • Waters is out for two weeks courtesy of the pussification of the AFL
  • Schofield copped a knee during the Collingwood game
  • Rosa apparently has broken his ankle and is out for 6 weeks.
  • Kennedy has done a PCL and is out for 2, which seems optimistic
  • Eberts done some sort of ankle injury? Don’t know anything more about that
  • Armstrong’s had his two games in and is out again
  • And McKinley has been dropped to find some touch after a quiet game last week
  • In come Hunter and Butler from long term injury. Will be interesting to see how they go, Hunter might be down on his aerobic capacity you’d reckon after missing so long which against the Swans will not go well for you. Glad to see Sammy Butler back in.

Masten returns after a rest which is a big plus. Graham gets another go, as does Nicoksi who by all reports played really well last week. Sydney-boy Ryan Davis comes back as does Mark Seaby, who’s been down in 08.

Gee, hard to know what to make of this line-up. Our much vaunted forwardline of Kennedy & McKinley
has been shelved for now and we’ll miss their input. It might be a chance for Staker to make a go of a forward line berth - he was poor last week and needs to step it up; perhaps a permanent key forward role will be his go? Time will tell.

I reckon we’re a bit top heavy myself and we will need to be on top of our game in the midfield to make this a contest. Another chapter to the great rivalry or another one-sided match-up?

    1. Some big Outs but how big are the Ins?

    2. not big enough imo :)

masten is a good in. hunter’s fitness is an unknown. butler is in for the first time in almost 2 years. the others are in our “inconsistent in 08″ group.

got a lot to prove i reckon

I wouldn’t be surprised to see McKinley stay in for Hunter …
