Flying High with the West Coast Eagles

The Monday Expert - Round 2 Adelaide vs West Coast Eagles

The Wrap
ADELAIDE 6.4 10.5 13.6 21.7 (133)
WEST COAST 2.1 4.4 7.5 8.9 (57)

An ugly 76 point thumping reminiscent of the 2003 Elimination Final.

Before the Bounce
The truth I haven’t watched the game - and now with the demise of Fox Footy I realise I am unlikely to be able to see it seeing as I didn’t record it either. That’s the short story anyway.

So tell me, where did it all go wrong and what change/s are we going to make for the derby?

I missed the game as well. So I can’t enlighten you. But I would suggest that the abesence of BC and CJ has taken the ‘fear factor’ out of the WCE Midfield/ eingine, ergo the team, reading between Niel Craig’s comments post-game.
BC and CJ might not have played too much last year, but they added a menacing support, and possibly made the 22 walk taller knowing they were potentially still part of finals campaign.
This may not be the appropriate forum to suggest it, but the Eagles will do well to finish top 6.

I’m treating it as an aberration for now. At times the team showed some fight, but then just seemed to throw in the towel, and stopped running hard and attacking the ball like they need to. Hopefully a wake up call.

Hell, it’s not as though the Eagles have never had a shocker at the girly ground before. It’s almost an annual occurrence, even in good years for us. The Crows were switched on, we weren’t, and we paid the price.

  3. I have a theory of “beware the wounded”, as in the team that gets flogged one week usually goes on to win the next week. The Eagles are too proud and talented a team to get smacked like that again. They have given themselves inspiration enough to improve their performance. I wouldn’t care if they were playing a top team I would Probably still tip the Eagles. As it happens you’re playing an under performing Dockers so the choice is easy.

So, ‘beware the wounded’ doesn’t apply to a docker’s side coming off two losses?

  5. but they weren’t really flogged were they
