West Coast Eagles Team - Round 22

The last round of the Home and Away season. Mate, where did it go?

Three changes for the Eagles team to play the Bombers at Subi on Saturday. In come Daniel Chick, the forgotten man Nicoski and Chad “the other” Jones. They replace the injured Ashley Hansen, the hobbled Chris Judd and the rookie upgrade Jamie McNamara.

The Bombers are put all the names into the hat this week and pulled out 22 who will play in this game, including first game Jay Neagle, son of premiership on-baller Merv.

Where we end up on the ladder (and so where and who we will play in the first week of the finals) will be determined in large part with how we go in this one. You’d reckon a win would be assured, but you’d have reckoned that on a couple of other occasions at home in 07 too. With the Port game on Sat night, Saturday promises to be a big day of footy.

  1. It might seem like an “easy” game for your blokes. What’s the chances that the bombers will play above themselves for the whole game and send off Sheedy and (maybe) Hird in style. My prediction would be that they will play aboove themselves for part of the game but them pure class will prevail, even without Judd. If it’s close at 3Q time then look out for some Sheedy inspired footy.

  2. Tim, you’re right. We’ve had some very winnable games go begging at home this year. This one can’t afford to go like those did. Aside from the finals calculations, the Sheedy / Hird thing could be a distraction.

Bloody Essendon. We beat them and they still manage to screw us over. I don’t recall any “do it for me” pleadings from Hird at 3/4 time last week, when they still had a chance at finals and a good chance of winning.

Ah well, we beat them and gave Sheedy and Hird a good sendoff, and could do anything in the finals if we hit form. :D

  4. That was closer than expected. Didn’t see any of the game so I guess I just have to wait for your Top 5
