Flying High with the West Coast Eagles

Trade week update

Chris Tarrant - is still no closer to finding out if he’ll be a Magpie or Eagle in 2007.

Talks between Collingwood and the Eagles did not progress any further yesterday — the problem being the player the club would have to trade to satisfy the Magpies, in addition to pick 16.

It seems the Dockers are out of the picture due to Tarrant’s insistance he only want to come to the Eagles. Collingwood, whilst appearing reluctant to part with Tarrant will want to get a deal out of it having knocked back our first round pick in exchange for him.

Andrew McDougall - appears certain to join the Bulldogs but exactly what the Eagles will receive as compensation is tied up to the Akermanis trade and so not clear. It’s possible we will get a second round upgrade and a late third round pick for the former no. 5 selection in the 2000 draft.

Ashley McGrath - has requested a trade back to WA but Brisbane aren’t interested. I dare say we wouldn’t be either.

No interest in Travis Gaspar or Michael Gardiner. Gardiner is likely to be picked up in the pre-season draft with clubs becoming increasingly protective of draft selections. Depending on what happens with Tarrant, there may be an offer on Gardiner which may upgrade on one of the Eagles late picks.
