Player movement news begins
According to The West (quoted here in the Age) Gaspar, Gardiner and McDougall are all likely to be at other clubs in 2007.
West Coast’s premiership team shake-up has begun, with Andrew McDougall, Michael Gardiner and Travis Gaspar all told their playing contracts will not be renewed for the 2007 season.
Gardiner, who next week will have surgery on a painful groin hernia that kept him out of Claremont’s WAFL preliminary final, has been discussed as a potential recruit by several clubs.
Gaspar played for South Fremantle in the WAFL grand final, but did not play an AFL match this season. His two games in 2005 included a surprise appearance in the Eagles’ losing grand final.
No huge surprises there. McDougall will attract interest from other clubs and will likely attract a second round pick. Gaspar and Gardiner may get selected in the PSD, with Gardiner most likely to continue else where in 2007.
This could mean a reprieve for Smith, Wooden and Adkins to continue on in 2007. The West also reports that 4 of the Eagle’s rookies have been dumped in Michael Embley, Beau Wilkes, Ben Sharp.
