The Soaring

Flying High with the West Coast Eagles

In the mail yesterday…

Sitting on my doorstep yesterday I was greeted by a bulky envelope with the familiar logo in the top right hand corner. Expecting my 2006 membership card and yearbook I was intrigued by the size of the package and it’s contents.

Opening it up inside my interest turned to excitement when I saw a DVD case alongside some cordial thoughts from Mr Nisbett and a copy of the yearbook. “Now that’s what I’m talking about! the WCE marketing team have hit a six with this one”, I thought.

But too soon. The “wow-factor” turned to a “what-the” factor when upon opening the aforementioned DVD casing I found not a DVD case but the membership pocket guide handbook, an assortment of promotional junk, and Eagles-themed advertisng. YES, advertising.

I’d be happy if the advertising was on a DVD - that I could stomach - but I have a full assortment of insurances thanks very much, and getting more doesn’t really compare to watching fluid motions of the blue and gold on my TV in the midst of the footballing desert (ie summer).

It wasn’t to be but if any Eagles marketing people read this, there’s an idea for next year free of charge.
