Amuse Yourself at eBay
If you’re endlessly amused by the strange world of football merchandising then the West Coast Eagles eBay category is the e-place for you.
What I find fascinating is that not only has this junk been sold once, but that it’s now being sold for a second (or third or more) time. Who says Australians aren’t committed to a recycling way of life?
Sure there is some decent stuff that you would love to have hanging from your pool room wall, but generally a lot of the stuff up for grabs is not worth the time it would take me to reach into my pocket and count my change. It’s not worth much, but it is a humourous walk back in time. For example:
- Photos of the Grand Final parade - bids start at $2.50.
My take: the team passing in the back of cars - isn’t this stuff on the net anyway? - JASON BALL SIGNED 1996 WEST CST EAGLES CARD - bids start $10
My take: The guys wins a flag with Sydney and his 1996 card is suddenly cinderella chic? Bah, for swans fans only. There are plenty of better cards out there - including a signed Boris Langdon card which is up to $22 - West Coast Eagles AFL Metal Money Tin / Box & Lock - bids start at $10
My take: I love how they emphasis that it’s new, and it comes with a lock and key! Brilliant! Won’t break the salary cap with this one. - WEST COAST EAGLES SINGING BOTTLE OPENER - buy now $13
My take: There is something beautifully poetic about having the club song greet you with each bottle opened. Truly for the man (or woman) who has everything and is bored with it all. - AFL WESTERN DERBY - WESTCOAST COLLECTOR CANS - buy now for $1
My take: Full or empty, vendor puts our minds at ease - “please note these cans have been opened - top opened, but have been freshly washed“. Only 17 of these babies available. I am not making this stuff up.
